We are delighted to announce that Professor Gianna Pomata has been awarded a three-year grant of $150,000 from the National Library of Medicine to write a book on the case history in pre-modern medicine.

The title of the grant is: “At the Origins of the Case History: Individualized Medicine in Pre-Modern Europe.”

This is Observationum et curationum medicinalium ac chirurgicarum opera omnia … by Pieter van Foreest, published in Rouen by Ioan. & Davidis Berthelin in 1653. It is an important late sixteenth-century collection of medical observations.
